Tubo bicycle shelter. This tubular structure is based on the design of the Tubo bus shelter. However, to ensure better protection for bicycles, it features an extended roof and rear supports with a larger diameter.

Design
Martin Starý

  • Modular steel structure with vertical glazing and no horizontal glass divisions. Standard module width is 1.5 m. The base of the structure consists of a thick-walled steel tube with a diameter of 152 mm. The roof is drained via a collector and EPDM hose downpipes running through the rear tubes to the surface. The roof, made of 76 mm diameter tubes, is reinforced with 40 mm diameter cross-tubes. The structure has a static assessment for snow load zone 2. When the module width is reduced to 1.36 m, it meets the requirements for snow load zone 3. Vertical infills - 10 mm thick toughened safety glass. Vertical infill decals - standard safety print (central vertical stripes); full-surface decals or direct ceramic printing on glass with any motif available on request. Flat roof with a rearward slope, drained by downpipes leading to the pavement through the rear supports. Roof infills - standard 10 mm thick milky twin-wall polycarbonate; 10 mm thick milky toughened laminated safety glass available on request. Seals made of durable EPDM rubber and stainless steel fasteners.

Steel

The steel is hot-dip galvanised on both sides (in accordance with ČSN EN ISO 1461), and the surface is mechanically cleaned before being finished with a powder coating in a shade of your choice from the RAL colour chart.

‍

Anchoring into a concrete foundation below the surface using threaded rods and chemical anchors (anchoring set of 4x M16 per support).

All street furniture must be anchored according to the manufacturer's instructions. The manufacturer is not liable for any tipping of incorrectly anchored products or related damage.

Product features

Unlimited length

Thanks to its rigid rear structure, the Tubo bike shelter can be extended with any number of modules without compromising stability or safety. With a standard post spacing of 1500 mm, the shelter meets structural requirements for snow load zone 2, ensuring safety for up to 80 cm of fresh snow or 20 cm of wet snow. The overall load-bearing capacity can be further increased by reducing the standard width.

‍

With or without side panels

The Tubo bike shelter can be fitted with side panels for better protection of bikes parked at the ends. However, the shelter does not require a front support for safety reasons, so it is not a problem if you prefer a shelter without side panels for any reason.

Safe infill panels

The standard vertical infill is 10 mm toughened safety glass. This thickness is difficult to break, and should it happen, the glass shatters into small, blunt fragments. Roof panels are made of multi-wall polycarbonate.

Edit

Most of our products are made from acacia wood, which is highly durable and requires no regular maintenance. The wood can be left untreated and allowed to weather to a natural grey finish.

If you decide to apply a finish to the wood, you will increase its protection against dirt and grease and extend its lifespan. However, you should be prepared for regular, usually annual, maintenance. This is not complicated – simply sand the surface lightly, clean it, and apply a new coat with a brush.

If you want to avoid regular maintenance, we recommend leaving the wood untreated. An unmaintained finish will eventually start to wear unevenly, which can make the wood look unsightly. Conversely, naturally weathered acacia wood retains its characteristic appearance without the need for regular painting.

Yes, all our products can be ordered with installation included. When you place your order, we will also provide you with an estimated installation date.

We recommend planning the preparation of concrete foundations well in advance to ensure proper anchoring of the products and to allow the concrete to cure sufficiently before our installation team arrives. Please prepare the foundations according to the "Installation Drawing", which you can download from our website or obtain from our sales representatives.
