We are a family business that has been creating street furniture designed for life for over 25 years
About us
We create furniture that lasts for generations. We design and manufacture street furniture that is accessible to everyone and naturally balances functionality and design. Our goal is to create places where life is good.
When I founded Urbania, I dreamed that we would supply street furniture throughout the Czech Republic. That dream became a reality, and today we also supply our products to other European countries. From a small family business, we have gradually grown into a team of twenty people. However, my greatest joy is that we have managed to build a stable company whose work we can stand behind. I am proud of the people behind it all, and I am pleased that my son is now continuing our work. Urbania remains in the family, and the next chapter awaits us.
Miroslav Starý
Founder, Managing Director
I practically grew up at Urbania; my dad founded it just a year after I was born. From a young age, I was drawn to business, and at the same time, I loved design. Over time, I realised that our family business actually combines both of my passions. I enjoy not only designing new products but also thinking about the direction of the company as a whole, looking for new opportunities, and trying to do things differently. I have always had a need to solve details, challenge established procedures, and ask whether something could be done better. Furthermore, street furniture is a field where good design has real meaning and influences the environment we live in.

Honest
craftsmanship
We believe in honest materials and precise detail. In our workshop, we combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Every piece passes through our hands, from the first cut to the final finish. That is the only way we can guarantee that our furniture will withstand both time and the elements.

"What I enjoy about this job is that I can see something tangible at the end of every day. I’ve always loved working with wood, and it’s great here because we aren't just doing the same thing over and over. When I see a bench in town that I’ve worked on, it gives me a real sense of pride."
"We start with just cut pieces of steel or stainless steel, which we then weld together into complete structures. You have to work precisely so that everything fits exactly as it should. It’s a great feeling to see a finished product take shape from individual pieces of material, something that people will then use every day."
